It also boasts the Norman ruins of Hastings Castle, once home to William the Conqueror, which overlooks the English Channel. Hastings has a great shingle beach that runs alongside the town, with an award winning recently renovated pier in the middle! East of Hastings town centre lays the ‘old town’, which is full of character with plenty of antique shops with a bohemian flair.
